Good catch. That is a typo in the solution: For (Chien 8.a), if MemRead was shorted to 1, *stores* would break, not loads. And for (Chien 8.b), if MemWrite was shorted to 1, loads (and all other instructions) would break, and stores would continue to work.

Erik, in the solutions to HW 3 Chien 8 a) it says that if MemRead control line is shortened to 1 loads will definitely break and stores will definitely work. Isn't it another way around? I thought that loads will work but stores will break. Which answer is correct?
